We have tested for you... outdoor family adventure games

If they delight adults, hikes can quickly become tedious for children. But a stay in the mountains becomes magical when they go with their parents to discover adventure games! With Maxime, 12, we tested two in Cluses in Haute-Savoie which are magical, instructive and fun!

Who has never dreamed of waking up in a tree? It is an experience that we had the chance to live with Maxime in this hot month of May. It is 5:40 a.m. when we open our eyes gently, at the same time as the sun and with the song of the birds, in our bubble perched at the top of a tree at Evelyne and Jean-François’s in their guest house Sur le Coux in Thyez (Haute Savoie). The evening before, the hostess, who transformed her grandparents’ charming house, offered us a Savoyard meal before letting us go to our atypical rooms using the flashlight of our mobile phones.

After this night out of the world, here we are ready to discover the adventure “La Fée-buleuse abracadabrantesque adventure”, in the middle of nature in Nancy-sur-Cluses, 15 minutes from Cluse! This morning, we are lucky to be accompanied by Fanny Richard, the co-creator of the game with Agnès Marchand. But it is indeed an experience that we are going to carry out independently with Marie, her son Noah, 8 years old, and Maxime, 12 years old. Our objective ? Help the fairies (like Fée-gnass, our favourite), all twisted and carved in wood by the very talented Maxime Cadoux, to find serenity! Thanks to the instructions provided in a booklet provided in the kit, the boys will solve puzzles and perform magic tricks along a path in the forest. Passionate, they will barely see the 90 minutes of the game pass and will realize it only at the end that they have covered a course of 2.5 km.

Lunch is an opportunity for Bruno Giazzi, director of Cluses Arve & Montagnes Tourisme and passionate about role-playing games and adventure, to explain to us how he spent 5 years with his team designing 13 adventure games (the small the last titled Erina and the Epic of Carthage is launched on June 15) all unique in order to transport children and adults alike on a fabulous adventure. Place, story, puzzles, characters, visuals, route, atmosphere, every detail has been thought out and worked on by the Cluses Arve & montages Tourisme team to design these adventure games on the same territory, scattered in the towns and villages of the community of municipalities.

The afternoon is devoted to the adventure “Le secret du Reposoir” entirely imagined by Bruno Giazzi. We then have the mission of helping the monk John of Spain to fight the dark forces and to pierce the secret of the resting place to create a carmel where a community has made a vow of poverty and silence here. Equipped with tablets, we go for 1h45 (a longer route of 3h is also proposed) and from the Reposoir have to run, answer questions, solve puzzles and show great insight to accomplish our mission! The opportunity to discover the region, its historical heritage while allowing our young adventurers to let off steam!

After a night that will have allowed them to recharge their batteries, we end our weekend at the Grande Récré, a free event offered for the 2nd time by the city of Cluses and which takes place this year on May 22. Archaeology, altitude and sensations, far west, circus, garden of the senses: 5 universes allow families to take advantage of workshops, watch shows and enjoy the mild temperatures of spring. This is an opportunity for us to refresh ourselves and gain height by drinking an apple or fir juice on a bar perched a few meters high and which we will have accessed, thanks to the friends of the trees of the Corde Joux. , with the strength of our legs and our arms! Re-oxygenated, rested and relaxed, we are ready to leave the mountain and return to the city!
