After making a name for itself with its electric and hybrid models in France, MG is now launching the gasoline-powered ZS here. With its floor price, it could tackle the Dacia Duster.
MG’s revival in France began with the ZS EV, a 100% electric model. Far from being disappointing in terms of finish, it represents a great alternative on the 100% electric SUV market. Especially since a restyling allows it to further improve its qualities and brings autonomy to 440km. Further up the range, there is also the Marvel R unveiled last year. Taking up a 100% electric motorization, it extends 4.67 meters, thus exceeding the ZS EV by 36 centimeters. The interior is marked by the huge 19.4-inch central screen. Two engines are available: 180 horsepower for 402 km of autonomy or 288 horsepower for 370 km of autonomy.
Besides the electric ZS, MG persisted in continental Europe with another SUV: the EHS. This one nevertheless differs from the two previous ones by its plug-in hybrid engine. Here again, the vast interior has nothing low cost despite a price close to a Renault Captur plug-in hybrid much smaller. Finally, last novelty, until this month of June: the MG5. It thus takes the form of a station wagon derived from the Roewe Ei5 sold in China since 2018. It offers a fairly unique type of bodywork on the market for 100% electric models.

Make way for gasoline
Until now, MG therefore only offered electrified models on our market, but the manufacturer is now surprising with a novelty against the current electric movement. The MG ZS is therefore available in petrol version and will be powered by a 1.5l VTI-Tech block delivering 106 horsepower for a torque of 141 Nm whose price starts at €16,990. An interesting price for an SUV with a neat look and finish that is not disappointing in the already known electric version and whose the equipment already seems generous : LED headlights, air conditioning, rear parking sensors, electric and heated exterior mirrors, cruise control, 17” rims, 10.1” touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto etc

Already present in Spain, Italy or the United Kingdom: the MG ZS in its version driven by an internal combustion engine will also be offered here in another even better equipped version for 2,000€ more. This version Luxury adds among other things: the 360° camera, the heated and electrically adjustable front seats, driver’s side, a 6 HP 3D sound system, the 7” digital speedometer, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, imitation leather upholstery, etc.

At the top of the range, €20,490, we also find this Luxury finish associated with another gasoline engine, a 1.0 T-GDI of 111 hp. Slightly more torquey, this turbo engine is associated with a six-speed manual gearbox and can climb up to 180 km/h.
