The style of Louis, 23 years old: antiquing the English way

“I arrived in Neuchâtel last December. Originally, I’m from Norwich, England, and I also studied in Lincoln and London. In the capital, there are so many possibilities for dressing, you really can find everything. For my part, I have always been attracted to vintage shops and thrift stores. This passion comes to me from my parents, who also bought their clothes in this kind of store. As a general rule, I don’t have a specific idea in mind when I hunt: if a piece of clothing catches my eye, I buy it. I think after the fact to match it with my wardrobe. I also use certain applications, always for vintage, like Depop or Vinted. And I’m going to get my basics – socks, leggings, etc. – at big brands like H&M or Zara.”

“I had wanted to find this jacket. I saw it on the shoulders of the American rapper Aminé. Since then, I told myself that I needed it. I finally managed to find someone selling it on the Depop app.”

“My bag is one of the last pieces I bought myself. It’s a Carhartt that doesn’t come from a thrift store for once. I recently lost all my documents, ID, driver’s license, etc. I thought I needed something practical to store all this. Since then, she never left me.

“These necklaces are trending right now, I noticed a lot of young people wearing them on TikTok. I saw that they were selling some at the Metro Boutique in Neuchâtel and I bought one with flowers. I had another one before, with leaves this time, but the color quickly went away.”

“My bag is a Dr. Martens. Normally it is quite expensive but luckily I managed to find it in action. It was clearly a good purchase, it follows me everywhere, I wear it every day and I can fit absolutely all my things in it.”

“My trousers is a Ralph Lauren that I found in a thrift store in England. It’s a little big but it only cost me £25 (about 30 fr.), and with a belt, that’s no problem. Either way, I’m a big fan of baggy cuts.”

“Usually I wear shoes with many colors. Today, I wanted a pair that didn’t contrast too much with my outfit and was comfortable. These are a bit my everyday shoes.”

“Maybe I should change my piercings one day, I feel like I’ve always worn them (laugh). I must have had them since I was 18 or 19 for sure. I like my look with them, they are clearly part of me.
